About this deal

Can I use the boxing shoes also for running ? Some people say that the boxing shoes are only great to use in the boxing gym to do the other stuff except running, such as (Skipping rope, Shadow Boxing, Bagwork, etc.) Like the adidas Box Hog 2 these boots by Reebok have been around for a while and are still very popular. Designed to keep you moving with speed and confidence a lot of thought has been put in to their construction. To be honest there aren’t that many Reebok boxing shoes that I would recommend with these been an exception. The mid top gives you the best of both the low and hi-top, been in between them both in terms of height means you do get a fair bit of support from them. In addition the fact that they don’t rise so high also means you still feel mobile in them. Also you have to ask yourself, why do most professional boxers wear them? The reason is that they feel most comfortable in a pair of mid tops. Nike Machomai is a great boot for amateurs and pros alike. Although they don’t have as much design as the HyperKO style, there’s a reason they’ve been one of the most popular boxing boots for years.

Each of the three types of boxing shoe have their own pro’s and cons, choosing the right pair is down to personal preference. We all want something different from the training equipment we buy to see what you will get when buying low, mid or hi-top boxing shoes see below.

Low tops sit just under your ankle, similar to running shoes. Since these shoes have less ankle support, they are best for strength and conditioning or casual boxing, not typically used in sparring. Regarding sole height, this largely depends on the arch of your foot. If your feet have high arches a more cushioned sole might provide more comfort and elevate your foot further off the ground. Cleto Reyes are solid high quality and have always been a popular quality brand for many years. Seyer is another diehard Mexican brand but like most Mexican brands are not often found outside of Mexico. There are also several other Mexican brands that also make boxing shoes, but not all of them. I suspect boxing shoes are more hassle and less profitable compared to boxing gloves. Either way, you can research on Google if you want to explore all the other Mexican brands and see what customizations are possible.

In this match up we will be putting boxing shoes up against trainers. A lot of newcomers to boxing start off wearing trainers to the gym to practice pad or heavy bag work so it makes sense to put these two against each other.

Whether or not a shoe feels comfortable is down to the insoles and how the shoe feels when fully laced up. Furthermore having the right insoles and feeling comfortable in them is essential, as nobody wants to be thinking about their insoles when they should be training. Nike, Reebok, and Adidas will always be the most popular (Nike still way more popular than the other two). If those two brands don’t suit your taste, try going for Rival. If you want to spend lots of money for custom gear, try Grant. Asics and Rival can also be seen sometimes. I think Rival might be more popular depending where you go. Many boxers have this recent-model high-top Nike boxing shoes nowadays. Here in Southern California, I feel like that’s all I ever see. Manny Pacquiao made this model famous. They’re replacing the old Nike Machomai’s that everybody used to wear. They’re extremely lightweight, very supportive, appear to be long-lasting, comfortable and high performance. It feels like a very well-built shoe. Most legit pros and amateurs are using these more than any other brand I’ve seen. If there’s any complaints, it’s that some people (like my brother) might feel there’s a little more space in the ankle area than they want. There are three types of boxing shoe, these are Low top, Mid top and Hi top. In general these three types of boot are essentially the same the only difference been is how high they rise above the ankle.

You will find that non-boxing shoes are pretty horrible when it comes to allowing you to grip & pivot. The way non-boxing shoes are shaped at the front can make pivoting a little awkward and also that the non-boxing shoes are either too slippery (don’t give you enough grip) or they give you too much grip (making it hard to pivot). You’ll find that boxing boots are designed to feel almost like a second skin. Many boxers report that the best boxing boots can feel as though you aren’t wearing shoes at all, as they fit perfectly to you. This fit means that you can move with greater speed and range in the ring, with the smoothness and grace that you deserve.Reebok is the latest mainstream sports brand to go into the boxing market (behind Nike/Adidas). The most well-known pros wearing them are Floyd Mayweather and Amir Khan. From what I hear, it’s a great shoe but might be a little narrow and annoying to put on. Their models are made to be a direct competitor to Nike’s HyperKO. You can watch this Reebok vs Nike boxing shoe review video.

A good pair of boxing shoes improves comfort, mobility, speed, and power. It’s really that simple. A shoe that’s made for boxing will allow you to be comfortable in boxing positions and stances, and allow you to move in the ways that a boxer typically moves. And if you’re able to move better, you’ll have more speed, and more power. A smooth texture is designed for better pivoting while others are designed for a better grip. Texture comes down to whether you prefer more mobility to pivot or have a firmer grip behind your movements. I just bought a pair of Nike HyperKO (model 1), and I was pretty excited since they are kind of the Ferrari of boxing shoes that I wanted since like 10years… And I was pretty disappointed! The mid tops will usually rest two or three inches above your ankles depending upon the model and usually are the most popular since they offer a bit more mobility than the high tops but more support than the low top. Ideally your boxing shoes should offer a snug fit but allow for good mobility without causing blisters. Now comes the second-most important feature of boxing shoes, the way the sole (the bottom of the shoe) is built. The way your soles are built greatly impacts your ability to balance, move, pivot, and throw punches. First off, on the inside…the insoles have to be comfortable and allow you to stand balanced. You shouldn’t feel like your axis is off-balance when you stand in your boxing shoes. You also shouldn’t feel like the shoes are forcing your feet to angle slightly towards the outsides or the insides. You’d be surprised by how common this problem is. If the insoles feel weird or make you off-balance already, maybe you can replace them with custom soles…maybe not. Having too much support and by this I mean material on your boots that isn’t really needed and is just there for the aesthetics of the boots can add unwanted weight to your shoes. This added weight can affect your movement so try to go for a lighter pair unless of course you prefer a heavier boxing shoe as some do. Comfort
